Women Panel Responds After SpiceJet Writes ‘Red-Hot Girls’ On Dharmendra’s Pic With Air Hostesse

SpiceJet is the second-largest Indian airline based on the number of domestic passengers it carries. The airline is popular for its budget ticket prices. There have been several controversies regarding SpiceJet which often make headlines. Recently a picture shared on Twitter by the airline has been doing the rounds and gathering the attention of netizens.

The picture features the veteran actor Dharmendra wearing an olive green jacket accessorized with a hat with three SpiceJet air hostesses wearing their signature red dresses. The dress code of the air hostesses of SpiceJet is red and black.

The caption of the picture posted on the microblogging platform by the airline has raised many eyebrows

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, SpiceJet shared the picture with the caption;

”Garam-Dharam with our red-hot girls”

They also tagged the veteran actor and added some hashtags.

The Bollywood actor Dharmendra replied to the post saying,

”Thanks.. lovely journey with these sweet babies. pata hi nehin chala kab udey kab pahunch gaye.”

The airline’s labeling of its flight attendants as ”Red-Hot” didn’t sit well with social media users.

Here is how the National Commission for Women (NCW) responded to the post

NCW tweeted,

” @NCWIndia has taken cognizance of the matter. Chairperson @sharmarekha has written to Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet Ltd to look into the matter and to issue directions to take down the post. Action taken must be communicated to the Commission.”

The National Commission for Women (NCW) advises the government on all policy matters affecting women. It is a statutory body of the Government of India. The purpose of the NCW is to provide a voice for women’s issues and concerns and to represent the rights of women in India.

Their campaigns include equal representation for women in jobs, dowry, religion, politics, and the exploitation of women for labour.

The comments section was flooded with angry netizens who took offense and called the caption sexist:

Maybe the intention behind the caption on SpiceJet’s tweet was not to offend women but may addressing their employees as Red Hot Girls doesn’t seem right.
