3. In which segment does BlackBird actually fit in
Tata Motors already has a successful lineup of SUVs which specifically includes the renowned Nexon and the Harrier. The product dimensions of Nexon are suitable for a proper sub 4m compact SUV having a starting price of Rs 7.6 lakh, and that of the Harrier is a mid-size offering carrying starting sticker price of Rs 14.7 lakh. Clearly, Tata Motors could target to exploit the existing vacuum between the offerings in this very segment.
As per recent reports and leaks, the upcoming Tata BlackBird will likely fit in somewhere between 4 metres and 4.6 metres.
4. BlackBird Tata – The Hyundai Creta Rival
The market for the lower end of the mid-size SUV segment is currently dominated by the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The starting price of those models is just over Rs 10 lakh. There are many more options in that segment like the MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun. So definitely BlackBird Tata will have a lot of rivals in the target segment even before launch. Lately, this segment has seen rapid growth and definitely Tata wants a piece of it too.
5. The model to have LED headlights on the front, a sleek front grille, a tall bonnet and will have high-ground clearance with plastic body cladding.
6. Tata BlackBird features
As per reports, the Tata Blackbird SUV will have a spacious cabin with modern features. It is most likely to have a big infotainment system with all the latest connectivity features available. The upcoming car will reportedly support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Additionally, it will come with features like automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, automatic wipers, a rear defogger, a digital instrument console, and a wireless charger. The midsize SUV will also support auto-dimming IRVMs and push-button start.
7. Tata BlackBird price and launch date
It is fair to assume that when and if launched, Tata BlackBird price could be from Rs 10.5 lakh onwards. Tata BlackBird launch date is something which is still unknown but knowing Tata Motors, they could possibly showcase the production-ready model at the upcoming 2023 Auto Expo.
8. 5-Star rating
Even before the introduction of Tata BlackBird, it is assumed that the product is going to control the market with a 5-star rating.
9. Tata BlackBird: Delay in the launch
According to current media sources, there is a high possibility that Tata might have cancelled the ‘Blackbird’ project. Supposedly, Tata was to collaborate with Chinese automaker Chery on this SUV, but due to rising tensions between India and China, Tata could have abandoned this proposal. Tata, on the other hand, has a backup plan.
As per the rumours, Tata may be working on a new coupe-style SUV called Curvv, designed by adapting the Nexon’s X1 platform to the C-segment. It was also showcased at the start of the year 2022.
