Ramanand Sagar’s visualized Ramayan is one of the most loved versions of all time. There have been several television remakes of the show but none can match the level of the old one. It has been 35 years now, nonetheless, the actors continue to receive the same love and admiration.
Actor Arun Govil who played the role of Lord Ram has since attained an almost cult status. Recently, he became a part of the headlines for letting his female fan kneel down at his feet.

Actor Arun Govil addressed the viral video of a woman falling at his feet
After a massive outrage and plenty of trolling, actor Arun Govil finally addressed the viral video. Talking about the incident with the Hindustan Times, Arun shared that,
“It was 6.30 in the morning. This woman saw me at the airport and screamed Ram…”
“This woman saw me at the airport and screamed ‘Ram!’ She then caught my leg and literally rubbed her forehead on my shoe! I didn’t know what to do at that point, I couldn’t even bend to pick her up. When she calmed down a little, I tried to make her stand. She told me her husband is in the ICU. She had got a yellow dupatta, which she wanted to wrap around me. I told her, ‘Take this dupatta and make your husband wear it.”
He also talked about how he believes, the actor added,
“they are not touching his feet, but are paying an ode to their belief and faith”. “Yeh unn bhakton ke mann mein aata hai ki iss aadmi ke paaon chhoone hain, mera kya reaction aana chahiye ispe? I’ve always believed that they are not touching my feet, they are paying an ode to their own belief and faith. I am a mere symbol, Lord Ram made me that”
Arun Govil’s career came to a standstill once the show got over
Arun Govil made a place in everyone’s hearts by portraying the magnificent character of lord Ram. However, after the show came to its end his career to came to a standstill. In an earlier interview with IANS, Arun Govil was seen saying,
“For the last 14 years, I have not done anything, except maybe make a few special appearances, I had started my career as a Hindi film hero and post-Ramayan, when I wanted to return to Bollywood, producers said, ‘Your image as Ram is so strong we cannot cast you as anyone else or give you a supporting role.”
Arun Govil shared his disappointment as he mentioned,
“They felt that I was not suited for commercial movies anymore. That became the biggest minus point of my career, and I realized that I could never return to showbiz the way I wanted to. I took up a few TV shows, but every time I did something, people rejected me saying, ‘Arre, Ramji kya kar rahe hain (Hey! What is Lord Ram doing here).”
