Ex-IPS Officer Replies To Claims Made By Anand Mahindra On Abe Shinzo Assassination

The assassination of former Japanese prime minister Abe Shinzo during a political rally in Nara, Japan, is shocking and perplexing and has disturbed the whole world.

It is astonishing since Japan hasn’t had much political violence in at least 50 years, and because gun ownership is strictly regulated there. Abe had no official government position after resigning as prime minister in 2020, which makes it even more perplexing because we can’t say it was done because of political rivalry.

Industrialist Anand Mahindra shared a video of the murder of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and lamented Abe’s security detail’s negligence, which he said had the potential to save the Japanese leader. Mahindra said that Abe’s security team had a “potentially life-saving gap” between the first and second shots that they might have used to save the leader.

Tweeting about the same with the video, he wrote on Twitter,

“The first shot missed. There was a potentially life-saving gap until the second shot. Shouldn’t his security have jumped on Abe & flattened & covered him instead of chasing the assailant? He could have & should have survived this.”

His tweet became a topic of discussion and lots of people are commenting on the tweet citing their own theories. While many people were blaming Japan’s faulty system, many were comparing this incident with the assassination of two former prime ministers of India (Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi) and saying that it can happen anywhere.
