Elon Musk Slams US Politician For Taking A Dig At Twitter Verification Fee

Twitter owner Elon Musk made headlines yet again! After acquiring the social media giant, Musk has been taking a lot of action. As soon as Tesla CEO Elon Musk got his hands on Twitter he sacked some of its senior executives including Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal.

According to reports, the others sacked from the company are CFO Ned Segal, and Vijaya Gadde, the director of legal, policy, and trust.

Musk’s initial moves have created a lot of buzz on the internet and tweets about him are all over the place. Seems like he wants to bring about a change in all aspects when it comes to the popular micro-blogging platform.

Musk recently announced that verified Twitter users are going to be charged to keep their blue tick

This news didn’t sit well with most Twitter users and it prompted reactions. Musk plans to charge a fee of $20 for Twitter Blue verification, according to a recent report. Among the users that mocked his decision was also the well-known author, Stephen King.

This time US politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went on to take a dig at Elon Musk over the blue tick fee

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote in her tweet,

“Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that “free speech” is actually an $8/mo subscription plan.”

This drew a sarcastic remark from the Twitter CEO, Elon Musk

Elon Musk replied to the Congresswoman, on his new policy of drawing a fee for keeping the blue tick and wrote,

“Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8”

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez also stated that her Twitter mentions/notifications stopped working after her tweet exchange with Mr. Musk when she shared her views and took a subtle dig at the Twitter CEO’s decision on the blue tick verification fee. She tweeted,

“Also my Twitter mentions/notifications conveniently aren’t working tonight, so I was informed via text that I seem to have gotten under a certain billionaire’s skin”

The politician also added,

“Just a reminder that money will never buy your way out of insecurity, folks”

This twitter war doesn’t end here Elon Musk even shared a tweet, highlighting the price of a sweatshirt listed on the website of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. He went on to the extent of sharing a picture of the product by drawing a circle over its price tag of $58.

While paying $8 for the verified badge has been disapproved by Twitter users Mr. Musk stands his ground by saying that the fee is reasonable

He even shared a meme on Twitter mocking those who are hesitant to pay the nominal fee for their blue tick.
