On Thursday Elon Musk put on a poll on Twitter asking if he should step down from the position of the micro-blogging site’s CEO. 57 percent of voters who comprised almost 10 million voted in favour of Musk getting down from the top rank of the company. Musk took over Twitter just eight weeks ago.

Musk started the Twitter poll swearing that he would “abide” by the results. He also declared that once the verdict was out, he would resign as the CEO of Twitter when he finds a suitable replacement.

Elon Musk’s taking over Twitter gave rise to chaos and controversies with the mass layoffs, the return of banned accounts, and the suspension of journalists who criticized him.

After the poll indicated that the majority want him to step down from the position of Twitter CEO, Musk tweeted,

I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.

The 24-year-old YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson who holds the title of the “World’s most famous YouTuber” with his Youtube channel ‘MrBeast’ conveyed his desire to be the next Twitter CEO

MrBeast asked Musk,

“Can I be the new Twitter CEO?”

This is what Musk replied,

“It’s not out of the question.”

“MrBeast” is one of the highest-earning YouTubers in the world. He has 122 million subscribers on YouTube and over 16 million followers on Twitter.

Before acquiring Twitter, in an interaction, last December, the Tesla, and SpaceX chief, expressed his desire to become a full-time influencer by quitting his job. Among the people who responded, MrBeast was one of them. He said that he would “coach” Musk on “how to get YouTube views”.

Musk has also been criticized for neglecting his other ventures, especially his car company Tesla, which has seen its share price descend since he took over Twitter.

Though Musk is looking for a new CEO, the chosen one will have to live in the shadow of the billionaire. Elon Musk believes that his leadership saved Twitter.
