In the West, stand-up comedy is a popular type of entertainment, and it is becoming more popular in India as well. The popularity of Indian stand-up comedy is rising quickly. Indian stand-up comedians are becoming more well-known both domestically and overseas.

In Junagadh, Gujarat, he completed his education. Munawar Faruqui began working at a kitchenware store while going to school in order to help his family out financially. He first entered the world of stand-up comedy after beginning his career as a graphic designer.

2. Zakir Khan

The skill of Zakir Khan is undoubtedly unmatched. He is capable of playing the sitar and penning shayaris. He attended St. Paul Higher Secondary School in Indore for his education, has a diploma in sitar, and dropped out of college.

3. Kenny Sebastian

Kenny Sebastian received his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya N.A.L. He graduated from the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath with a degree in Visual Arts.

4. Kanan Gill

Kanan Gill, a standup comedian best known for hosting The Pretentious Movie Reviews, received his education at Ahlcon Public School in New Delhi and The Frank Anthony Public School in Bengaluru. He received his engineering degree in computer science from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology and spent three years working there as a software developer.

5. Vir Das

Vir Das was brought up in both India and Nigeria. He attended the Indian Language School in Lagos, Nigeria; The Lawrence School in Sanawar; and Delhi Public School in Noida for his formal education. For 18 months, Vir Das studied at Sri Venkateswara College (DU).

He then went to Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where he majored in theatre and earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He was also approved for the collaborative Stanislavsky Program at Harvard University and Moscow Arts Theatre.

6. Biswa Kalyan Rath

With Kanan Gill, Biswa Kalyan Rath co-hosted the popular comedy series Pretentious Movie Reviews on YouTube. He holds a Biotechnology degree from IIT Kharagpur. Before quitting his career to pursue comedy full-time, he worked in graphic design, advertising, and software.

7. Kunal Kamra

The exploratory humor of Kunal Kamra on the absurdity of life is well known to all of us. He studied business at Jai Hind College in Mumbai. After quitting college in his second year, he spent 11 years working as a production assistant.

8. Varun Grover

Author-poet Varun Grover is also well-known for his stand-up comedy. He graduated from Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi with a degree in Civil Engineering. The critically acclaimed film Masaan had Varun as one of the authors and lyricists. He contributed to the writing of Sacred Games as one of the writers.

9. Mallika Dua
