In the West, stand-up comedy is a popular type of entertainment, and it is becoming more popular in India as well. The popularity of Indian stand-up comedy is rising quickly. Indian stand-up comedians are becoming more well-known both domestically and overseas.

No one really foresaw the rise of stand-up comedy during the past ten or so years. Open mic evenings are being held in every other pub in a trendy area, and Indian comedians are travelling to America and Dubai.

To be able to analyse politics and society and simultaneously make people laugh requires a lot of mental fortitude. They are not average people, as we often assume. Many of them decided to abandon their plans of becoming successful professionals in order to pursue their passion for comedy.
