Big Boss is one of the most-watched, loved (trolled and memed) reality shows of India. It is hosted by Salman Khan, where participants of that show are made to be in the house for some days, do regular tasks and well argue and scream like weirdos.
There’s a lot of scripting that goes on in the show, well obviously. But there are some very strict rules that get followed too. Let’s look into some of those:
1. Sony TV started Bigg Boss in India
Arshad Warsi was the first host of the show and it started back in 2006. Sony TV started the show and later Sony sold the show to Colours TV, and the rest is history.
2. Alcoholic drinks are not completely banned
While the smoking area is already present, there’s no specific drinking area though. But the contestants who would like to drink or find it difficult to stay without alcohol get served with that too. Mostly it is served in a juice package.
3. Payment to the contestants
There are two types of payments that are made to the contestant. Either they get paid as per week, or they get paid a bulk amount after the whole season gets done with the shoot session. Like, Rashmi Desai got paid 15 lakhs INR every week and Rimi Sen got paid 2 crores INR after the completion of the show.
4. Getting intimate inside the house
Big Boss is tagged to be a family show. Just even if the contestants would like to intimate it either gets censored or edited out cause those scenes breaks the code of conduct of the show. So when the contestants would like to be intimate it is said that they mostly go to the bathroom since there are no cameras there.
5. A hefty fine in case they decide to quit in between
Signing a contract before entering the house is a very common and known fact. But do we know what gets mentioned in the contract? The contestants are liable to pay a hefty fine if they decide to quit the show in between. The fine sums up to an amount of 2 crores!
6. Bigg Boss house is more of a jungle
The studio for Bigg boss that is basically the house is placed very close to Lonavla hill station. Thus it is not completely uncommon to have inside insects coming over and giving the contestants some company during their stay. There have also been cases where scorpions and snakes also got stopped inside the house.
Maybe the snakes came to say a “hey!” to their brothers and sisters since the contestants are no less than snakes.
7. Staff to clean the house
Though it is highlighted that the participants clean the house and create a fuss about it often. It is not real. There are staffs to clean the house and the participants are not allowed to interact with them since they’re not allowed to interact with anyone outside the house.

The audience’s votes (us) are taken pretty seriously. According to viewers votes, the gate of the participants are made. If we keep voting for one and ignore the other, the other participants are most likely to be evicted. BUT, audience vote is not everything! The TRP and it’s value in media are taken into consideration the most.
Thus whoever is the most loved or hated doesn’t get evicted because of the stirred-up regular drama. This is one of the biggest secret of Bigg Boss house.
10. No discussion before joining the show
The reason behind people being so unsure about joining the house is because they’re not allowed to discuss it. The contestants are made to be shut and kept low key about the entire show to keep the hype up for the audience.
11. No promotion of branded clothes
Bis Boss doesn’t allow the promotion of brands in the show. That’s why the contestants are not allowed to wear very gaudy and flashy branded items which would show the brand name or the tag. This they’re seen in a very normal homelike attire in the show.
12. Non-allowance of holy books
Holy books, which mainly target religion and sentiment similar to that, are not allowed. Rather, not even normal books are allowed as well. In case contestants would like to go read a holy book, they might request for that to the big boss and they’d get it from there while they’re already in the house.

The voice is heard during the show is the voice of Atul Kapoor. He has worked in a lot of dubbing projects for Hollywood to Bollywood films.
14. Contestants go through a checking
Their bags are checked before they are allowed to enter the house. They’re not allowed to bring a watch with them, and that is why they often lose track of time. Making them have lunch at odd hours of the day. Food items, mobiles, etc are not allowed as well.
15. Bigg Boss accepts personal requests of contestants
In one of the another big secret of Bigg Boss personal requests of the contestants are also fulfilled. Since celebrities live in that house for a long period of time, they might have special requests to fulfill. Like special soap, shampoo, perfume, etc. They request it to the big boss in front of the camera, and they’re often granted the same thing.
16. Contestants get outside food as well
Mostly during the weekends, the participants eat outside food. It is said to be duty-free that day so that enjoy some good delicious outside meal.
17. Salman Khan never watches full episodes
Unlike some of us, Salman Khan is way too busy with some other drama to deal with. He does say that he watched each and every episode. In reality, he only watches the episode that is important.

Crew members, participants have often mentioned unexpected paranormal activity inside the house. They told they encounter a strange woman standing in the corner. Some said it’s just their hallucinations and some said it’s something creepy and supernatural.
